Trader Joe’s in Medford, Oregon

Trader Joe’s had been slated to open a store in Medford, Oregon for many years. Finally, the time had come! Concrete Concepts won the contract for the concrete floor and was anxious to get started. We began our work after the walls were up and the roof was on.

Skid work at Trader Joe's

With the use of a skid steer, existing gravel was graded and compacted. Decomposed granite was
trucked into the building and placed on top of a vapor barrier to establish the solid base for the
new floor. Over 140 cubic yards of material was hauled into the building, leveled with the skid
steer, and hand graded to provide a stable base for the soon to arrive colored concrete.
Rebar for Concrete
Over 9 tons of rebar was placed in a 1 foot square pattern for exceptional reinforcement.
Articulating boom pouring concrete at TJs
With the use of an articulating boom pump, 200 yards (that is 20 truckloads) of high strength colored concrete was pumped into the building that now houses our new Trader Joe’s of Medford.
Concrete crew at Trader Joe's
A coordinated effort from everyone involved in this phase of the project made for another challenging and rewarding day of working in “the mud”.
Concrete Floor at Trader Joe's
The final result is a durable, attractive yet understated, concrete floor.  The perfect platform for a couple dozen cases of “2 Buck Chuck” wine.
